FESTIVE POEMS BY THE CREATIVE WRITING CCA GROUP

Christmas!!!

Dear Santa Claus

I know you don't exist,
I know you don't have a workshop
Or a factory filled with elves
Or a reindeer named Rudolf
Or a sleigh that flies around the world...

My point is you lied,
No,
My parents lied,
My aunt and uncle lied,
My grandma lied,
My sister didn't lie, she knew the truth.

My other point is I believed them,
I believe that some old guy would give presents to everyone on earth,
In one night.
I believed that some old guy knew that I was being bad,
But gave me presents anyway.
I believed that some old guy could fit everyone's present in one bag.
One bag.

So yeah, Santa
I know you don't exist
But anyway here's my Christmas list!

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is not just about the food, or stuffing the Turkey.
It is not about breaking the wishbone to be the one whose wish comes true.

Thanksgiving is not about filling your stomach to the brim with pumpkin pie, or cookies.

Thanksgiving is about giving thanks to those you love and the things that you couldn't imagine your life without.

Thanksgiving is a day to remember your loved ones who you may have lost. To give thanks to all that has happened to you and for who you have become.

So this is me saying thank you, thank you to the ones who are in my life everyday. The ones that make me happy and proud of who I am. The ones that make my life bright when I'm stuck in the dark.

This is me saying me saying thanks to you.

Yes. You.

FESTIVALS

My Christmas Experience
It was Christmas, and all around the world
These were fake Santa Clauses to behold
And as all the children begged for a gift
I was stuck inside for someone had broken the lift.

My Halloween Experience
It was Halloween, and all around the world
There were DIY costumes to behold
And as all the men screamed childishly
I stayed at home because there was no party.

My Thanksgiving Experience
It was Thanksgiving, and all around the world
There were accusing but delicious turkeys to behold
And as people cut into such a luscious thing
I ate chicken, for we don't celebrate Thanksgiving.

My New Year Experience
It was the New Year, and all around the world
There was much screaming and fireworks to behold
And as the clocks of the world struck twelve
My family screamed but I didn't delve.

My Easter Experience
It was Easter, and all around the world
There were many fake eggs to behold
And while I tried to find an egg under the Sun
I could only find those fatty chocolate ones.

Around the world in 80 Christmases

My uncle, my aunt and cousin Humphrey
Got a car that was bright and comfy
But when they went for a drive
They would not fit inside
Because Santa stuffed it down the chimney

There was once a man in Zimbabwe
Who, for Christmas, bought a tree, Hooray!
But he got his order wrong
All the trees were gone
But he didn't have presents anyway"

On Christmas during WW1
The soldiers started having fun
They took the helmets off their head
And started playing football instead
Until the commander shot them dead

My dad is really Santa Claus
Or at least last year he was
He woke up on the 11th hour
Left under the tree my gift and a flower
He was sleeping this year - a big loss

-----------------------------------------------

It's Christmas , hooray! I win
20 gifts! Some go in the bin
I don't need an eraser or a book
I don't need a mask with an evil look
I don't need a new school bag
Or a toy wizard or a toy hag
I don't need toys or games
I don't need the paper with 100 names
Finally, in the end, I only have one
And I might actually have some fun!
Thanks for the computer mom and dad
I can actually enjoy, I'm so glad!

-----------------------------------------–--------
Christmas is my favourite day
Not because of the present play!
I really need my Christmas food
I tried it all, it is good

I need Christmas cakes
Made at special Christmas bakes
I need gingerbread snowman cookies
I need new Christmas bookies

And don't forget the grand feast
It isn't bad - not in the least
You get to eat a grand Turkey
Christmas is grand, and not dorky

Christmas

Ever wanted a white Christmas?
With hot chocolate and laughter and snow...
Ever wanted to see Santa?
And see his eight reindeers aglow?

Isn’t it fun when you hang stockings
Up near the chimney?
Isn’t it fun when you go shopping
To get Christmas stuff in the big city?

And when you meet up with your family,
To celebrate Christmas together…
Don’t you then celebrate really happily?
Especially when there’s that white weather...

And at night, when the kids are tucked in,
Ho Ho Ho, it’s when the real fun begins
It’s when Santa enters with his big, wide grin
And has bags full of all sorts of things.

The sweet girl gets a doll,
The little boy gets a ball.
Then Santa creeps out,
And returns to his hideout.

In the morning, they wake up.
And drink their hot chocolate in a cup.
And in their stockings were their toys
They celebrated by making some noise.

Their Christmas tree was well lit,
And more things were underneath it.
Mummy received some new jewellery,
Dad got a new tool kit.

They went outside and built a snowman
While mother cooked breakfast in a saucepan.
They ended the night with a nice, big feast,

Their Christmas was fun,
And yours will be too, so
Have happy holidays and remember
For the end of school, just a few days to go.
